Kashmiri Carpets Are Famous Around The World.

The carpet industry of Kashmir has its origin in Persia. The carpets of Kashmir has been heavily influenced by Persian motifs. Kashmir carpet industry has become a specialized area offers guests a significant part of life in the area. Besides the natural beauty and a scarf and sweater industry, Kashmir is well known for its carpet industry.

Kashmir carpet is a product that has captured the hearts of people around the world, mainly because of their intricate designs and their duration. Except for the traditional use of carpet as the floor Kashmir, and also serves some other uses, such as the wall hanging and bed linen.

Kashmir carpets are traditionally made of silk or wool. Sometimes a combination of wool and silk are used. The artisans are now used for the production of mercerized cotton, these mats. Vacation in Kashmir Houseboats


Staying in a houseboat is one of the biggest attractions of the city of Srinagar in Kashmir. Houseboats are like small villas on Dal Lake.  They come in all categories of luxury at the D (D is an official class), so that everyone can find a barge according to the portfolio. there are more than 1400 houseboats in Srinagar.  Many of them can accommodate only a bit at a time, so that no guide book cannot really refer to any particular boat.

These houseboats have their own traditional appeal. The barges are anchored on the banks of Dal Lake. Each houseboat is fully furnished, and each barge company have a boy. The barge is decorated in grand style, with carved furniture and carpets from Kashmir with intricate work on them. There are four spacious bedrooms, three - bedroom and bedroom two boats, and all have attached bathrooms, electricity and modern plumbing. The interiors are intricately carved cedar and display the complete art artisans of Kashmir. The decor includes embroidered native rugs and fabrics, works of local art, and solidly comfortable Victorian and Edwardian furniture. These luxury boats also includes roof terrace from which to take in views of the Himalaya and enjoy the fresh crisp air.

Kheer Bhawani- Temple of Goddess Durga

Kheer Bhawani is temple of Goddess Durga roughly 30 km away from Srinagar on the one side of Srinagar Leh highway. The temple is located in the center of the spring water and surrounding by many many high Chinar tress. The main festival of this shrine falls on Zaitsh Zoon Pach Asthami every year according to Hindu calender ( Month of May every year). On this occasion lakh of people attend the festival and offers special prayers during the day and especially in the evening by lighting earthen deeps filled with Desi ghee. The water in the spring surrounding this temple change its colors sometimes it becomes milky sometimes light green and sometimes black which indicated the future of the times coming ahead whether good or bad according its color.

Dal Lake- Also Known as Nagin Lake!!

Dal Lake, also known as "Nagin Lake", situated into the heart of the city and is under the foot hill of  Zabarwann. Area of this lake is spread on many kilometers with many houseboats for tourists come and stay in these houseboats, enjoying the view of the Dal Lake, there are floating gardens are their in the lake on which vegetables are grown. In the center of the Dal Lake there is a place known as "Char Chinar" the access to this place is through small boats known as "Shikaras". Lotus flowers also grow in this lake. The stem of this lotus flower is known in Kashmir as "Nadroo" is being used as eatable vegetables.

Nishat Bagh

Nishat Bagh, the garden is located in the heart of the Srinagar city situated on the bank of Dal Lake. This garden is one of the beautiful gardens built by  Mughal emperor and is built in terraces. Different kinds of flowers and fruit tress are their on both sides of water canal with different kinds of water fountains, flow through the garden with its fall at its end facing Dal lake. One who visits Srinagar never leaves before visiting the garden.

Kashmiri Wazwan

Kashmiri wazwan is the mouth watering delicacies in Kashmir comprising of many non-veg items generally served on marriage occasional and also available in hotels. One of these delicacies is "Gushtaba" it has a small ball like shape and is prepared by beating the thigh flesh on a special flat stone with wooden hammer, then small round balls are prepared from this meat and are cooked in milk with some spices.
